1 injured in armed robbery outside Antioch apartment complex

(WSMV file photo) ANTIOCH, TN (WSMV) – Police say a 30-year-old man is recovering from injuries after two men attempted to rob him early Saturday morning in Antioch. The robbery happened outside the Baker Hill Apartments on the 300 block of Bakertown Road just after 12:30 a.m. The victim told police he was approached outside the apartment complex by two black men who attempted to rob him. When they were unsuccessful, one of the men shot the victim in the shoulder and hip. While the victim was unable to give a physical description of the suspects, he said they fled in a medium-sized silver vehicle. The victim was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Police are still investigating the incident. Copyright 2018 WSMV (Meredith Corporation). Tennesseans mentioned in ‘100 Reasons to Love America This Year’

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill (WSMV file photo) NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) – Several Tennesseans were named in People’s list of "100 Reasons to Love America This Year." Waffle House hero James Shaw Jr. came in at No. 83. Shaw is credited with disarming the gunman during the deadly shooting in Antioch in April. Carrie Underwood’s face came in at No. 62. The magazine wrote, "Gorgeous as ever after 40 stitches. Phew!" The country star suffered a serious fall late last year. Cumberland Caverns landed at No. 19. It’s a cave where bluegrass concerts are held in McMinnville, TN. Country music power couple Tim McGraw and Faith Hill took the top spot on the list. People wrote, "Still crazy (in love) after all these years: country’s power couple continue to top the charts and heat up the stage while mastering the art of a marriage in the spotlight."
